TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #19: A JUNGIAN Se-f WHO IS ACTUALLY EMOTIONALLY AND MENTALLY HEALTHY!

Hello, everyone. I know this typing in practice post is out of turn (next was supposed to be Barack Obama), but somebody sent me these videos to type in AP. I couldn't completely type them in AP, because I could only really see a self positive E and 4L; however, I was able to type them in SOJT, and Jack is pretty clearly an Se-f type in SOJT

I know I've spent a lot of time focusing on *Unhealthy* Se-f's, such as Florence Ballard, Kurt Cobain and Michael Hutchence. However, Jack is actually a very good example of a *Healthy* Se-f.

How did I reach the conclusion Jack is Se-f? Because, first of all his videos are all about spontaneous reactions he has when he watches other videos. He reacts spontaneously (Fe2) in his videos to things he experiences with his senses in a tangible way (Se1). He also wants everything to be practical/rational/ common sense, which are all desires of an Extroverted sensation (Se) type. And he responds very spontaneously (feeling) to the videos he watches with expressiveness and sympathy (Fe).

To confirm this, I also typed Jack in DISC. Only I was present. So yeah, I feel confident to say he is an Se-f family member in SOJT, a Primary I in DISC, and his closest matching MBTI type would be ESFP. Here's the videos I watched:

So, in summary, now we finally have a healthy Se-f! 👏👏👏

TYPING IN PRACTICE #18: 2 MORE ESFPS WITH DEPRESSION; SADLY THEY COMMITTED SUICIDE; KURT COBAIN AND MICHAEL HUTCHENCE

Earlier in True Types post # 11, where I typed Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard from the Supremes, I mentioned that Florence Ballard was an ESFP who had sadly been overcome by depression.

Well, I analyzed 2 people who were also in music, and were also ESFPs, and also depressed. Unfortunately, in these instances, both committed suicide. They were two people who's music I listened to during my late teens and early 20s in the 1990s. They were Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and Michael Hutchence of INXS. I was heartbroken by their passings.

Both Kurt and Michael were very easy to analyze in both SOJT and DISC through videos. Both of them had a primary focus on tangibles and a secondary focus on people. That represents Se1, Fe2. In addition, as far as DISC characteristics went, both Kurt and Michael had only I above 50/50, meaning they were both Primary I. Se1, Fe2 and Primary I results for both confirm that both were, in fact, in the MBTI terminology, ESFPs.

I particularly found Kurt Cobain's Fe2 interesting, in that it presents an interesting scenario about how to can tell the difference between Fe and Fi.

In one of the videos I watched, Kurt was asked why he had done drugs for a while. He said , because the rock stars he had grown up on all did drugs, and he felt that if he didn't do drugs too, he "wouldn't be accepted as a rock star ". Then he was asked what he would tell others after his experience doing drugs. Kurt replied, "Don't do drugs. It's stupid."

Both those statements from Kurt show that he has conscious Fe, and now I will talk about the difference between Fe and Fi.

If Kurt Cobain had conscious Fi instead of conscious Fe, his reasoning for using the drugs would actually be to not stand out and look different. As I mentioned to someone on my discord server, there is a simple way to tell whether a function is extroverted (outgoing) or introverted (reserved). Associate images of going out with "outgoing" and pulling in for "reserved" . If feeling pulls in, feeling is going to be concerned about how "I" feel about a situation, whereas if it goes out, feeling is going to be concerned about how "others" feel. Kurt being concerned about the "others" suggests his feeling is going out of him (extroverted), as well as his social acceptance reasoning for using the drugs to begin with. He used them not so that "I won't stand out and look different " (Fi). No . He used them so "other people would accept him as a rock star" (Fe).

Another interesting thing about Kurt, in his suicide note; he was concerned about how his wife Courtney and daughter Francess would feel if they had to continue to live with a depressed husband and father. His suicide note was very selfless, and Kurt talked about putting Courtney and Francess out of their misery of having to deal with a chronically depressed person like him.

Michael Hutchence was pretty much a repeat story, so I'm not going to go into detail with him. But yeah, if you watch the videos you can clearly see both have a primary tangibles orientation and a secondary people orientation, with both orientations going out of them rather than pulling in:

TRUE TYPES TYPE FAMILIES POST #2: MEET THE Se-f FAMILY

I was able to chronicle all 5 SOJT types that belong to the Se-f type family. They are all within the Primary I profile in DISC, and are in slots 5, 6, 7, 108 and 8 on the DISC wheel. These people *should* also be the MBTI type ESFP. But we know how off the modern day MBTI type descriptions are

Here's things that these 5 SOJT types that make up the Se-f type family have in common:

  • Zest for life +
  • Energetic +
  • Promote harmony and unity between people +
  • Easily driven to smile +
  • Find happiness in the mundane +
  • Animated =
  • Their "toys" are more important to them than the people in their lives =
  • Knowing their risk for being overindulgent, many are extremely disciplined and take drastic measures to make sure they don't overindulge =
  • Prone to be suspicious and distrustful of things they couldn't see -
  • Thought negative and depreciating thoughts about themselves -
  • Highly disorganized -
  • Needs to be pushed, in order to persevere -

This should be how the MBTI defines the type , ESFP. As noted, their MBTI type descriptions are pretty far removed from the actual list of commonalities among the 5 SOJT type in the Se-f family.

Let's now take a look at each individual SOJT type in the family, and what makes each distinctive from the other 4 SOJT types:

Se-f (fully differentiated type)

  • Excellent judges of peoples' character
  • Excellent observation/listening skills in human interactions
  • Often asked to mediate conflicts

Read more about Se-f here:

Fe-s (short primary, long secondary)

  • Excellent judges of peoples' character
  • Willing to risk their own life to save others' lives
  • Willing to lay their popularity on the line to take up an unpopular viewpoint

Read more about Fe-s here:

Se (F>T ) (undifferentiated auxiliary)

  • Tasks also play a role
  • Doesn't like to be told what to do
  • More joking/button pushing (but not as much as Se-t)

Read more about Se (F>T) here:

Se-f/Fe-n (undifferentiated dominant and inferior)

  • Intuition also plays a role
  • More romantic and overbearing in relationships (but not as much as Fe-n)
  • Exceptionally creative

Read more about Se-f /Fe-n here:

S-f (E>I) (undifferentiated attitude)

  • Closest to ambiverted, can sometimes seem introverted
  • Prone to also be stubborn
  • Prone to also have irrational fears or phobias

TRUE TYPES POST #44: JAIME S

DISC: Primary I profile; result: I (C)(S), slot 108

SOJT type: Se (undifferentiated auxiliary function, preferring F >T)

MBTI type most resonant: ESFP

What were  you  like  in high school?

In high school, I was not "in". However, people really liked me, and found me entertaining

What is your  greatest  fear? What do you  do to address it?

My greatest fear is that I will lose control in various different areas of my life. I'm working on it

Was  there a time in your life where you felt you hit  rock bottom? What was the  situation  behind  it?

Even when I'm at my lowest, I try to stay positive, so I'm not sure I've ever really felt like I've been there, if I have

Where  would  you  put yourself  on the social spectrum, and why?

I'm extroverted, but closer to an ambivert than a hard core extrovert

What are some things that really bother you?

I don't like cruel people or dishonest people. I also don't like being told what to do.

What,  would you say, are your biggest strengths?

I'm friendly, I care about people and want the best for them.

What,  would you say,  are your  biggest  weaknesses?

I need a push to hang in there when times are tough. I also have a hard time believing things if I can't see them with my own eyes

When  you  switch  your  attitude between  introverted  and  extroverted,  or vise versa,  what are  you  like?

When I become like an introvert, I become suspicious of people, and have a hard time trusting them. I also tend to think negative thoughts about myself. Other times, I can verbally attack people.

What was the hardest  thing  you  ever had  to  do? Why was  it  so  hard?

The hardest thing I everhad to do was lose my friends, and make new friends all over again. It was when I was in high school, and I decided to use my time after school on weekdays to study a trade at the technical center, and get certified in it. My friends didn't particularly like this, and dumped me. It took me a while to make new friends all over again, but because of my excellent friend making skills, the time was fun, even though it was long...

What are you  like  when  you're  sad?

I can be sad on the inside in public, but the only place I outwardly display my sadness is in private

How masculine/feminine  do  you  feel  in relation  to others  of your  gender?

I feel average

Here's  4 focuses  you can have in  life: tasks, people,  objects and ideas.  Which one would  be  your  primary focus and why? Which one  would be your  secondary  focus  and why?

First is objects. I love the time I spend working with them. Then, I'd say people, because I'm a fun person to be around. But I think sometimes tasks might be a priority too? 🤔

What do you  do to have fun?

I like to hang out with my friends or family. I've got to be doing something physical.

What was  the  nicest thing you ever  did  for  someone,  and why did  you  do  it?

The nicest thing I ever did for someone was hook up a new kid at school with friends, when I was in high school. I did that, because I'm well-connected and have a lot of contacts. It's also sad to see anyone in school having no friends

Thanks, Jaime, for sharing with us

TYPING IN PRACTICE # 11: THE SUPREMES

I said I was going to type a bunch of Detroit area "hometown heroes " I had, growing up in Metro Detroit. I've typed Eminem. I'm in his generation, so for me , he didn't really fit the "hometown heroes " category, although he does for many people of younger generations. However, the Supremes really were "hometown heroes" for me, in every sense of the word. And the Supremes were pretty much over by the time I was born, and when I moved up to the Detroit area, they were totally a thing of the past. Yet the fact that Diane (Diana) Ross, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson all grew up in poverty, yet went on to become one of the greatest female singing groups of all time made them "local legends" and "hometown heroes", and with that , my education into the Supremes began.

I got so caught up in the Supremes, from that education, I auditioned for a Motown cover band to sing Supremes songs. I also have an "Essential" Supremes collection released in the mid to late 2000s, when a music distributor released the "Essential" series. I even went so far as to voice type them: Florence Ballard as a "Dugazon", a hybrid voice that has the high notes of a soprano, but the low notes of a mezzo soprano; and Diane and Mary were both mezzo sopranos with different tone quality. But I never personality typed them until now.

The resources I used for the personality typings were: "Where Did Our Love Go?: the Rise and Fall of The Motown Sound" by Nelson George, and "Dreamgirl: My Life As a Supreme " by Mary Wilson.

Step 1: identify everyone's DISC quadrant: Diane (Diana) Ross liked having authority, liked to take charge of situations, and was very determined and persistent. She clearly belongs in the D quadrant. I noticed Florence Ballard had enthusiasm, liked talking, was a promoter of people, was spontaneous, loved to have fun and liked being popular. Those things put her in the I quadrant. I noticed Mary Wilson was loyal, accommodating, sympathetic, nurturing and a peacemaker. I decided that was enough to put her in the S quadrant, yet it was not, as we shall later see. So far , for letters, we have: Diane: ET, Florence: EF, Mary, IF.

Step 2: at this early point, it was also clear that all 3 women had a conscious sensation function; because singing, dancing, performing and entertaining were all thematic in their lives. If not the overarching theme, objects was at least the incidental theme for all 3 women. So we know, none of them was an intuitive. We have only sensors present. So far for the letters, we have Diane: EST, Florence: ESF, Mary: ISF

Step 3: figure out the overarching themes. Diane's was pretty easy to see: it was power, fame, sucees, money, etc. These are all themes for ETs as either overarching or incidental. However, since these are overarching themes, we know that Te is not only conscious but in first place for Diane. Therefore, we have a type identification for one of the 3: Diane (Diana) Ross is an ESTJ. Now to move on to Mary and Florence

Step 4: I figured out the overarching theme for Mary, and it was people. So I initially typed Mary as ISFJ, but I realized if she really *were* an ISFJ, she would have probably had Diane angry at her, for "dropping the ball", more than Florence. And she would have picked up on Mary's sensitivity and dislike for change, and would have been seeing Mary as a hindrance to her dream. And, since that was not the story, I took a look at those S traits, and realized they were common secondary S traits (where S is above 50/50, but not the highest letter). As a result, I did an actual DISC assessment on Mary Wilson, and found her to be I=S, which is in Jungian typology, F-s preferring extroverted>introverted. This means that although Mary Wilson could sometimes resemble an ISFJ, more often than not, she functioned as an ESFJ. So now, we have a type identification for Mary Wilson as an imperfect, but we'll take it, ESFJ. Now on to Florence.

Step 5: Florence was definitely the hardest of the 3 to type. She suffered from depression her entire post adolescent life. But it was still clear that Florence's overarching theme was, in fact performing. That was her overarching theme, and people were just incidental. That led me to type her as ESFP, but confirming that Florence was, in fact an ESFP was a nightmare, because Florence was "depression". But the cool thing about DISC is, it is not mood related. I looked for S (Steadiness)traits in Florence, and found none. Also, what started Florence's depression was Diane and Berry Gordy (incidentally, I believe Berry Gordy is a High D as well as Diane) decreasing Florence's performance opportunities ( a real blow to an SP). When Florence's depression was so bad that she started losing interest in everything (except eating, sleeping, etc), Diane ultimately saw Florence as a stumbling block to her pursuing her own dream, and had Florence removed from the group. Florence was replaced, and the group went on. ESFPs would generally be able to take blows like that , and just wait in the wings for the ESTJ to leave the coop, much like ESFJ Mary Wilson was able to do. But because of Florence's undealt with emotional problems and trust issues she developed from being raped, she became more susceptible to spiraling into depression, when she felt like her performance opportunities were taken from her. Florence is a very sad example of what ESFPs are like when they don't take care of their mental and emotional health. Surprisingly, Florence did not commit suicide, but died from heart disease, at only 32.

So, there we have it. The 3 women who grew up in poverty in Detroit, and rising up to become one of the greatest female groups of all time, were:

Diane (Diana) Ross, an ESTJ

Florence Ballard, an ESFP, and

Mary Wilson, an ESFJ

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #9: PINK

Pink, who's real name is Alecia Moore, is one of my favorite singers from the 2000s and 2010s. I have a few of her albums. She's a collaborator and promotes harmony and unity, and fights for justice. She's a very passionate singer, and got signed to a recording contract, after being singled out as the most passionate singer in an all female vocal group. She's also very athletic, and does athletic type things in her live shows while she's singing. Without further ado, lete explain how I typed her.

Step 1: I think everybody can tell pretty clearly that Pink has conscious Se. I think that's why most in the MBTI community mistype her as ESTP. And yes, my dear followers and readers, that is a mistype. And please continue reading to see what her type actually is. But the fact that she clearly has conscious Se puts knowledge of her perceiving axis as Se-Ni. At this point, letter-wise we have ESxx.

Step 2: we place Pink in a DISC quadrant. As I mentioned in the intro statement, Pink is collaborating, harmonizing and unifying. Those are actually all traits of people in the I (Influencing) quadrant of DISC. Therefore, sorry Personality Database, and all the websites out there that love to say she's an ESTP. She's definitely not that type, because ESTP is in the D (Dominance) quadrant. At this point letter-wise, now we know ESFx.

Step 3: Although we got there through different means, we are down to the same 2 types we were for Miley Cyrus in Typing In Practice Post#4. So how are we going to settle this dilemma? I did it by watching a few Pink interviews, and looking for the presence or absence of S (Steadiness). If it is largely present, Pink would be ESFJ; and if it's largely absent she would be ESFP. The reason is ESFJ is I/S in DISC, whereas ESFP is Primary I.

Step 4: a hangup glitch kind of thing happened- at least that's what I thought it was, but then I realized it was not. It seemed like her foci were people first , then objects. Fe1, Se2. But there was an issue in the fact that Steadiness was absent. Well, thank goodness for True Types Post#28. Yes, Chris (formerly Blaine) loved to promote harmony and unity, and swoop in and save the day. And he did that again 😂😆🤣, and outside of the context of my head while sleeping this time😂😆🤣. Thank you, my lovely dream dude. I remembered your DISC slot, and realized that Pink is in the same slot on the DISC wheel, the Primary I profile, slot 8.

Step 5: What is Primary I profile, slot 8? Is is the short primary/long secondary slot on the DISC wheel for ESFP. When I was figuring Out Chris's functions for the True Types post they came back on my analysis as Fe Se Ti Ni. Notice, Jungians, how the Se and Fe came back backwards? That's a phenomenon called short primary, long secondary or short dom, long aux for short. It will make a person's auxiliary function appear to be, or test as, their dominant function. The way to recognize this phenomenon is by looking at what the lowest function is, because the lowest function is always going to be the pole of the dominant function, even if another function seems to be eclipsing it. In my analysis, Chris's lowest function was Ni. Therefore, it didn't matter that Fe was higher than Se . Se was still his dominant function. That's why it's always important to note a person's lowest function when you're testing them, folks. You might end up with situations like I did with Chris, and then with Pink.

So in summary the superhero Chris and the superheroine Pink share the same slot on the DISC wheel, and the same MBTI type.

Pink is an ESFP

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #4: MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, a country music singer who madeit big with "Achy Breaky Heart" in the early 1990s in the US. Billy was able to get his daughter Miley a child acting gig as Hannah Montana in a television show on the Disney Channel. In the late 2000s, Miley started her own singing career.

She has had a lot of issues with addiction, and has been in and out of treatment, and has talked openly about her addiction problems. She has become kind of an advocate for those suffering from addiction and mental illness these days.

In typing Miley, I used the same interview videos CS Joseph did, but once, again, my result was different than his, go figure.

The first thing I noticed was that Miley Cyrus was highly interpersonal in all her interviews. She kept mentioning people coming together, what "we" did, having compassion for the needy and poor, etc. These are all interpersonal characteristics, which suggest that Miley Cyrus has conscious Jung Fe, and belongs in the I quadrant.

Step 2: I went back and listened to the videos a second time, trying to see if I could pin down her exact location in the I quadrant. Was she a conscious sensor ( left side of quadrant), or a conscious intuitive (right side of quadrant)? In the interviews, she was talking about practical things she and her people were doing to help the poor and needy. She wasn't just theororizing about it; she was actually out there doing stuff about it. When you read articles about her, you also see that she is actively dealing with objects in her everyday life, rather than passively dealing with ideas. Miley's conscious perceiving function, then, is sensing, which puts her as one of the types, whose fully differentiated version is on the left side of the I quadrant: Se-f and Fe-s.

Step 3: I went back through the videos yet a third time, to see if I could could detect any secondary S traits in Miley at all, as DISC profile-wise, I had narrowed things down to Primary I (home to Se-f), and I/S (home to Fe-s). I detected no secondary S traits in Miley. So my final decision on a DISC profile for Miley is Primary I

Step 4: What MBTI types get a Primary I result in DISC? Primary I has 6 slots on the DISC wheel, 5 of which are variations on Se-f. Se-f in Jungian is an ESFP in the MBTI. The sixth slot is a variation of Ne-f, but we already determined Miley was a sensor, so we can easily assume she's not in that slot, but rather one of the 5 sensing slots

Miley Cyrus is an ESFP

TRUE TYPES POST #38: FLORENTINO (TINO)

DISC: Primary I profile; I (D) (S), slot 6

SOJT type: S-f (undifferentiated attitude, D>A dominant function serves as dominant)

MBTI type most resonant: ESFP

What were  you  like  in high school?

In high school, I was well known and well liked, despite having cerebral palsy. The students saw the as a good M. C. , so I got to be the M.C. at all the student pep rallies, dances, and similar events

What is your  greatest  fear? What do you  do to address it?

My greatest fear is not being liked. I think I've overcome that fear with a lot of practice

Was  there a time in your life where you felt you hit  rock bottom? What was the  situation  behind  it?

No. I've never really felt like I've hit rock bottom. Life has been a constant growth experience for me

Where  would  you  put yourself  on the social spectrum, and why?

I'd say I'm an ambivert. Sometimes, I can be really outgoing. Other times, I can be really shy

What are some things that really bother you?

Liars are a big one. I also like people to trust me too. And when they don't, that bothers me

What,  would you say, are your biggest strengths?

I'm flexible and adaptable. I also have good social skills. I'm good at reading people, and understanding what they're *really* saying

What,  would you say,  are your  biggest  weaknesses?

I struggle with being dependable and reliable. I'm often running late, and I sometimes screw up, and drop the ball. I also have a tendency to take things too personally

When  you  switch  your  attitude between  introverted  and  extroverted,  or vise versa,  what are  you  like?

My introverted self is slower paced, hates confrontation, and does not like change

What was the hardest  thing  you  ever had  to  do? Why was  it  so  hard?

The hardest thing I ever had to do was go to a regular school, with my cerebral palsy. I was afraid people wouldn't like me or respect me. But I put myself out there anyway, and they did like me, and treated me well

What are you  like  when  you're  sad?

I honestly don't think I've ever really been sad. But if I were sad, I'd certainly be sad in private

Objects first. My life revolves around objects and their details. I'm all about creating very detailed images of objects in my line of work, and I really enjoy it. I'd say second is people. What would life be without them?

What do you  do to have fun?

I go on trips with my one daughter who lives with me. We like to visit new places every time we travel. Sometimes, I also get to bring my two sons, although they don't live with me

What was  the  nicest thing you ever  did  for  someone,  and why did  you  do  it?

My parents wanted to have more boys. I was their first son. They had 3 daughters before they had me. But because I had cerebral palsy, that made it difficult to raise me, and when my parents could have been having more boys, they were dealing with my difficulties instead. So when I was a teen, they found some women at church who would be willing to carry babies for them, if they had a sperm donor. So yes, I donated some of my sperm to my parents , so they could give it to the women at church, and the women could then carry babies with my parents' DNA. And yes, out of the deal, my parents got 2 more boys to raise (my sons).

Thanks, Tino, for sharing. We appreciate it.

TRUE TYPES DYNAMICS POST #2: ONE FAMILY, THREE ESFPS

In this post, I'm going to discuss a family from my dreams, where the father and both of his sons turned out to be ESFPs, when I did my typings of the "dream people" last summer. The funny thing was, even though they all ended up being ESFPs, they were all different from each other in various ways

I have often times heard people throw around different reasons for why people of the same Briggs Myers type can be slightly different from each other. Reasons I've heard are education, career, life experiences (eg. trauma), Enneagram, temperament blend, etc. I am telling you right now, none of those is the actual reason behind it. The actual reason is your SOJT type!

SOJT has 141 types, and each Briggs Myers type has at least 4 different SOJT types: a fully differentiated type, an undifferentiated attitude type, an undifferentiated auxiliary function type, and a type where the auxiliary function serves as the dominant. Some Briggs Myers types also contain some people who are more than one type , but their Briggs Myers type is their dominant type.

So now we get to meet the family with 3 ESFPs.

Arvid (who went by the nickname "Vizzy", and I'm going to call him that in this post, so to not confuse him with his junior) was the father, and he was in slot 6 on the DISC wheel. He had an undifferentiated attitude leaning extroverted. Incidentally, his auxiliary also served as his dominant, so his SOJT type is F-s.

Son number one is Arvid, Jr. ( I will be calling him Arvid in this post, because he liked being called that, and didn't go by a nickname). He was in slot 7 on the DISC wheel, and was a fully differentiated Se-f. One special thing of note was that he also exhibited a profound dislike of Ne

Son number two is Christian. We already discussed him in True Types post #8. He is in slot 5 on the DISC wheel. He is fully differentiated, and more than one type: Se-f/Fe-n.

Since Vizzy was dead by the time his sons grew up, the "mock interviews " will be with Arvid and Christian, and they will be relaying how they were different or like Vizzy

ARVID:

How are you like your father?

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is our voices, when we sing. He had a full and loud voice when he sang, and so do I. I also modeled the way I dress and wear my hair after how my father did in his later years. I thought he looked really good that way. I also loved how my parents adopted 2 children, who were the sons of my father's childhood friend. When they did that, I decided I would do nice things like that for others, too. People see me as a very nice person now.

How are you different from your father?

I believe I'm tougher and more masculine than he was. Also, he had this thing where he always had to wear contacts in public. He only ever wore glasses at home. My brother, incidentally, is the same way. I am different than both of them, in that I will wear either glasses or contacts in public. It doesn't matter to me. Another way I'm different from both my father and brother is that my father loved to wear hairstyles, most notably twist-outs. My brother loves to wear hairstyles too. Locs are his go-to. Me, I just wear my hair how it grows on my head 😆 And then, there's our names. We were both Arvid Izzy. However, my father always went by Izzy or Vizzy. Me, on the other hand, I go by Arvid. I like my name as Arvid. I don't like nicknames or anything. When my mother remarried, after my father passed, I asked if she could remove Izzy from my name. She did.

How are you like your brother?

I really don't have much in common with him, aside from the things that I have in common with both my father and brother. Those things all 3 of us have in common are: we're all extremely nice, we are all masters of the piano, we all like being outdoors, we all are ambitious, we all genuinely care about people, we're all interested in how our ancestors show up in us, we're all on the FODMAP diet, and I don't know if this counts, but we're all left handed

How are you different from your brother?

For some reason, my brother makes bad choices with his relationships with women. I'm not sure why. My father and I were very good at finding suitable women for ourselves. I'm not sure why Christian can't. My brother is much more creative than me. I struggle to be creative and come up with ideas. It's much easier for him. He decided to pursue music as a career. I couldn't see myself as a professional musician. I went to trade school instead

CHRISTIAN:

How are you like your father?

I like to wear hairstyles in my hair, the same way he did. Like him, I don't like wearing my glasses in public. Like him, I have been in hospital with sickle cell crises many times, and I have to take medication to control my sickle cell disease. We both had a dream to play classical concert piano. He never got to, because he lost his right hand in an accident. That's what I do, however.

How are you different from your father?

I am bolder, for sure, than he was. He was kind of shy. I'm much bolder, and a risk taker. He wasn't really fond of exercise. My brother Arvid and I lift weights together all the time. I have to do lighter cardio exercise than Arvid, because I'm sicker than him, but yeah, weights we do the same. My father dressed more casually than me, as well. I think that happened because of my profession. I have to dress nicely for my career, so I feel I have to dress nicely at other times too, even though I'm not on the job. My father went by his nickname Vizzy, like it was his first name. I have a nickname, C, but if I'm telling people my name, or having people address me, my name is Christian.

How are you like your brother?

We're both super interested in music. We are both in charge of the music for our church, and we work well as a team, in that capacity. We also both like to travel, and when we travel, we pack light. We both like the outdoors. Often, we will go to national parks together. We llve hanging out in the nature

How are you different from your brother?

I have a much easier time than him in being creative. I am a jazz composer on the side, and I create great music of my own. I feel so sorry for Arvid. He tries to do something like that, and he doesn't succeed. He is better than me, though, at advising people. I almost feel like I've lived a more sheltered life than him, because I haven't experienced quite as much life as him. Therefore, I can't advise people as well as he can. He also seems quite casual in the way he dresses and wears his hair. I'm quite old fashioned with my style, yet at the same time, I'm much better dressed. I do dress down for going to the national parks, doing yard work, working out, and things like that, though.

Thanks, Arvid and Christian, for sharing with us

TRUE TYPES POST #30: ARIEL

DISC: D/C profile, result: D/C (S) slot 21

SOJT type: Te-s/Se-f (more than one type)

MBTI type most resonant: ESTJ. ESFP also resonates, but nowhere as much as ESTJ

What were  you  like  in high school?

In high school, I was the student who was really good at public speaking, and was quite persuasive in my speaking, yet could still appeal to people's hearts and sometimes be very entertaining in my speaking as well. I was an excellent student, in NHS, and much of an overachiever as well. I was not part of the "in" crowd

What is your  greatest  fear? What do you  do to address it?

My greatest fear is that I won't live up to the vision I have for myself. I address that, by not making my vision too lofty. I try not to be a perfectionist, but it's hard

Was  there a time in your life where you felt you hit  rock bottom? What was the  situation  behind  it?

I don't hit rock bottom. I'm a constant achiever, constantly moving forward

Where  would  you  put yourself  on the social spectrum, and why?

Extroverted, for sure. I'm always talking, and always doing most of it.

What are some things that really bother you?

People, who are disrespectful to the people who care about me, bother me the most.

What,  would you say, are your biggest strengths?

Some of my strengths are being efficient, reliable, and getting things done. Yet at the same time, I can also be loving and compassionate. Don't ask me how I do that. I couldn't tell you

What,  would you say,  are your  biggest  weaknesses?

I'm not very patient, and I have haughtiness and arrogance that drives others up the wall. I really try not to be that way. It's hard

When  you  switch  your  attitude between  introverted  and  extroverted,  or vise versa,  what are  you  like?

I can't say I've ever done that. I'd almost say I'm a super extovert

What was the hardest  thing  you  ever had  to  do? Why was  it  so  hard?

The hardest thing I ever had to do was admit I can't be good at everything. This was hard, because I'm an overachiever, and I want to be successful at everything I do, and become good at everything I learn

What are you  like  when  you're  sad?

I can't remember the last time I was sad. It was a long, long time ago

How masculine/feminine  do  you  feel  in relation  to others  of your  gender?

I'd say average. I'm not exactly big, strong and athletic. But I'm certainly not a pansy either.

Here's  4 focuses  you can have in  life: tasks, people,  objects and ideas.  Which one would  be  your  primary focus and why? Which one  would be your  secondary  focus  and why?

My first focus is tasks. Iam definitely focused on completing tasks and achievement. As far as number two, I'm kind of torn between objects and people. I'm very practical, down to earth, and like tangible objects, that I can observe with my senses. I'm not going to believe something unless I can see it with my own eyes. At the same time, I love being well known in my community, having lots of people looking up to me as a leader, and me leading them in a loving and kind, fair and just way

What do you  do to have fun?

Sometimes, I just have to take a break from all this hard work. It's hard for me to do, but I've found it very good to take a break from time to time, and just relax and unwind. I usually take these breaks as a vacation with my wife and children

What was  the  nicest thing you ever  did  for  someone,  and why did  you  do  it?

I think the nicest thing I ever did was stand up for the Caribbean creole community that we have in our neighborhood. I am a creole myself, and I canvery clearly see our issues. I think a lot of my neighbors in the community appreciate how I've stood up for them in the past. I do it partially driven by compassion, and partially from my desire to be a leader

Thanks, Ariel, for sharing with us

An interesting thing about Ariel: when I was doing his function analysis, I can't remember which, but I found either 7 or 8 of the 8 functions in his analysis. So I was wondering if he was more than one type, or if he was an undifferentiated attitude. (I can usually only find 6 functions in the analysis of people who are more than one type), so I pretended to be Ariel, and took the IDR labs function test, which uses the actual Jungian functions, and does not use the Grant stack. Here is a graphic representation of the results, showing what function test results look like, probably for most of these "more than one type " people I'm finding:

Notice how in these "more than one type " people, the dominant and auxiliary for each type are all in a row, and the auxiliary of the primary type also serves as the dominant for the secondary type!😯 Also notice how the last 2 functions are the pole of the secondary type and the pole of the primary type! 😳 Interesting!

I'd say the function test results probably would look similar for all the other "more than one type " profiles I discussed. I will pin those below, so you can refer to them, and compare and contrast the "more than one type " folks

Additional typologies I've been able to do on Ariel since:

TRUE TYPES POST #28: CHRIS (FORMERLY BLAINE)

DISC: Primary I profile; result: I (S) (C), slot 8

SOJT type: Fe-s (D<A auxiliary serves as dominant)

MBTI type most resonant: ESFP

What were  you  like  in high school?

In high school, I was part of the "in" crowd, but I resented that, because if you were "in", people liked you for what you had, and I wanted to be liked for who I was. I was also a star athlete, particularly on the football team, where I was almost always the MVP.

(Note: "football" here is talking about American football, for context's sake)

What is your  greatest  fear? What do you  do to address it?

My greatest fear is losing control of my weight or my finances. I address the finances, by not using cash, and only buying what I need, and nothing more, on a card. I found it helps. As far as my weight, I exercise some practically every day, about 90% of what I eat is vegan, and I measure my body fat regularly

Was  there a time in your life where you felt you hit  rock bottom? What was the  situation  behind  it?

It was when I ended up being wrongfully convicted, and sent to prison. It was a hard thing, but it was good in the end, for many reasons

Where  would  you  put yourself  on the social spectrum, and why?

I would say I'm an ambivert, straight up. When I'm in conversations with people, I'm listening more often than talking, for sure.

What are some things that really bother you?

People who aren't genuine and real, people who are cruel, and people who are dishonest, particularly those who manipulate others

What,  would you say, are your biggest strengths?

I'm very real, and honest about everything.. I'm like an open book. I have a deep love and compassion for others. I am very brave, in that I am willing to risk my own life to save the lives of others

What,  would you say,  are your  biggest  weaknesses?

I give up too easily. I need persistent people in my life, to keep me going. I'm really bad at planning things. Don't ask me to plan anything without someone helping me. I'm also highly disorganized and am frequently late. Because of these things, people see me as rather unreliable, even though you really can rely on me in most areas. Them being so narrow minded makes me sad

When  you  switch  your  attitude between  introverted  and  extroverted,  or vise versa,  what are  you  like?

When I'm introverted, I become suspicious of others, and start questioning things. And , of course, I have to check, cross check and verify everything

What was the hardest  thing  you  ever had  to  do? Why was  it  so  hard?

The hardest thing I ever had to do, and one of the reasons I'm glad I was sent to prison, was to report my brother-in-law and some associates of his to the police. They were killing people, under the belief that they were doing the right thing, as part of a white supremacist group. They had tried to kill me many times, as well, because I didn't want to join them and had opposite views. So I had to wait until I was in a place where I could be under police protection before I reported them. Funny how things worked out

What are you  like  when  you're  sad?

When I'm sad, I get alone, and cry in private

How masculine/feminine  do  you  feel  in relation  to others  of your  gender?

I'm, like, super masculine. I'm really big and strong and full of energy. I'm not afraid to use my physical size and strength to stop a fight, or save someone's life. I've done that many times before.

Here's  4 focuses  you can have in  life: tasks, people,  objects and ideas.  Which one would  be  your  primary focus and why? Which one  would be your  secondary  focus  and why?

Objects are definitely my number one focus. I am a construction worker, I am still very athletic, and I also make crafts I sell online. They are my life, first and foremost. Second, I would say people. I have a loving and compassionate heart, and I care about everyone, particularly my wife and children

What do you  do to have fun?

Physical things, and adventures. And I love to go on them with my wife and children. And they don't mind. They like physical things and adventures, just like me

What was  the  nicest thing you ever  did  for  someone,  and why did  you  do  it?

There's many things I've done, and I've talked about many of them already, but I also want to add that I raised my niece and nephew as my own children. I saw my parents trying to raise them, and thought since I was younger, and more of a child raising age, that I would let my parents have a normal grandparent- grandchild relationship with them, and I would raise them as my children. Both of them, especially my niece, like to call me Dad, even though they know I'm really their uncle. It makes me feel so special and loved.

TRUE TYPES POST #9: DAVE

DISC: S/D profile, result S/D (C) , slot 132

SOJT type: S-f (undifferentiated attitude), (D>A dominant serves as dominant)

MBTI type most resonant: ISFP

What were  you  like  in high school?

In high school, I was just shy and quiet. I was nice and polite. I had some friends. There was really nothing much beyond that

What is your  greatest  fear? What do you  do to address it?

My greatest fear is losing my independence and freedom. I haven't really done much to address it

Was  there a time in your life where you felt you hit  rock bottom? What was the  situation  behind  it?

Yes. It was when I was beat so bad by my wife, I had to have surgery. After I recovered from surgery , I had her arrested, she got sent to prison, and I divorced her. I had such a bad marriage experience, at that point, I decided I would remain single the rest of my life. I didn't want to have to go through that again

Where  would  you  put yourself  on the social spectrum, and why?

Interestingly, even though I'm quite shy, I definitely have a people orientation, and I sort of like to be with people, and talk to people , to some degree, so I'm going to go with ambivert

What are some things that really bother you?

It bothers me when people try to control me, or tell me what to do; when people don't take me seriously, and when people try to take advantage of me

What,  would you say, are your biggest strengths?

Understanding people, being non-judgmental, and listening

What,  would you say,  are your  biggest  weaknesses?

Being stubborn and set in my ways

When  you  switch  your  attitude between  introverted  and  extroverted,  or vise versa,  what are  you  like?

When I'm extroverted, I'm much more energetic and impulsive. I tend to be more passionate about things too, when I'm extroverted

What was the hardest  thing  you  ever had  to  do? Why was  it  so  hard?

I think the hardest thing I ever had to do was stand up for myself. It was hard, because I want to appear as this really nice person , not as someone mean and angry. But if getting mean and angry is what I have to do for people to not walk all over me, I'll do it

What are you  like  when  you're  sad?

When I'm sad, I cry in private, often with someone I trust, to comfort me

How masculine/feminine  do  you  feel  in relation  to others  of your  gender?

I feel a normal amount of masculine energy, so I'd say I'm probably average

Here's  4 focuses  you can have in  life: tasks, people,  objects and ideas.  Which one would  be  your  primary focus and why? Which one  would be your  secondary  focus  and why?

I'd say objects first. I'm all about playing drums and percussion for a major label band. It's the first and foremost emphasis of my life. My second is definitely people, if I haven't already made that clear

What do you  do to have fun?

I like to work out or go out in nature. I consider both those things to be fun, especially going out in nature, because I love doing that alone, and alone time helps me recharge. I don't find it draining

What was  the  nicest thing you ever  did  for  someone,  and why did  you  do  it?

The nicest thing I ever did was for my fellow band mate. I protected her from someone who was obsessed with her in an unhealthy way, and stalking her. I did it because she's a dear friend of mine, and even though she was planning to marry someone else, I still cared about her as a friend. I certainly wouldn't have wanted anyone to harm her. Anyway, her stalker called me on the phone while the band was all together in the studio. I told her stalker she wasn't at the studio, even though she was. I told her to leave the studio immediately. About a half hour after she left, her stalker came, and saw she was not there. He left. I had her come back

TRUE TYPES POST #8: CHRISTIAN

DISC: Primary I profile; result: I (D)(C), slot 5

SOJT type: Se-f/Fe-n (more than one type)

*Note: I had another thought that Christian might have been S-f with an undifferentiated attitude, but the function analysis goes better with what I wrote

MBTI type most resonant: ESFP is this type. ENFJ also resonates, but not as strongly, and is clearly secondary

What were  you  like  in high school?

Well, I went to a high school that specialized in music, and everyone had some kind of a music background. As a result, there really weren't any cliques, per se. There were just people who were easy to like, and people who were hard to like. I was one of the easy ones. I was also quite athletic and into fitness

What is your  greatest  fear? What do you  do to address it?

My greatest fear is that I'll lose control of my health. I have sickle cell disease, and it's hard to monitor. But I have really worked on getting it under control, and doing sensible things to keep it under control

Was  there a time in your life where you felt you hit  rock bottom? What was the  situation  behind  it?

I feel like I hit rock bottom every time a woman wants to end her relationship with me. I've dated so many women, and it always seems we break up, and she's the one who wants to break up, not me. I recently had a chat with my brother Arvid about this. Arvid said I'm doing nothing wrong on my end. The women are just immature. I don't know for sure how true that is

Where  would  you  put yourself  on the social spectrum, and why?

I think most people would consider me an extrovert, however I can be shy, and I usually do more listening than talking in a conversation, so I say I'm an ambivert

What are some things that really bother you?

It really bothers me when people are cruel, or when they suddenly turn on me and don't want to be my friend anymore. It also bothers me when people don't take me seriously. Yeah, I do joke around a lot, but I'm serious more often than not

What,  would you say, are your biggest strengths?

I would say I'm nice, kind, warm and friendly, empathetic, highly honest and real, and good at bringing life to dull situations

What,  would you say,  are your  biggest  weaknesses?

I give up pretty easily. I need others to help me hang in there. I'm also bad at planning and highly disorganized

When  you  switch  your  attitude between  introverted  and  extroverted,  or vise versa,  what are  you  like?

When I'm introverted, I tend to be one of two ways. Sometimes, I am suspicious of everything, and I have to question people and things and test them. Sometimes, I am depressed, and I feel bad about myself. I start to question myself, how people view me, and how I am as a person

What was the hardest  thing  you  ever had  to  do? Why was  it  so  hard?

The hardest thing I ever had to do was deal with my father's death at a very young age. I think it had a profound effect on who I am today

What are you  like  when  you're  sad?

I'm sad in private. I cry a lot. I shut myself off while I'm crying. Nothing special

How masculine/feminine  do  you  feel  in relation  to others  of your  gender?

I feel about average. I feel more feminine in a way, because I'm touchy-feely. I feel more masculine in a way, because I'm really big, strong and muscular. So I guess this balance each other out

Here's  4 focuses  you can have in  life: tasks, people,  objects and ideas.  Which one would  be  your  primary focus and why? Which one  would be your  secondary  focus  and why?

That's an interesting question 🤔 I think I have two primary focuses, that I go back and forth between. Sometimes, objects are first. When they are, people are second. This would be like when I'm working on music, or something that involves me being active and using my hands, I will kind of put people on hold. Sometimes, on the other hand, people are first. When they are, objects get put on hold. Also I think when people are first, I believe ideas are second, not objects. And oh, yes, tasks don't matter much ever

What do you  do to have fun?

I like to have fun by being active, going new places, and meeting new people. I love to explore. It invigorates me.

What was  the  nicest thing you ever  did  for  someone,  and why did  you  do  it?

Honestly, I do nice things for people all the time. And I do it so often, it's hard for me to say which one of those nice things was the nicest. I really don't know how to answer this

Thank you, Christian, for sharing with us
