Hello, Mirage. This is Morgan, Eira's mom. We're both moms, we both know kids can say the funniest things and get up to trouble. My daughter was quite the handful growing up! I was wondering if you had any stories from Oliver's time growing up that stand out like that as being particularly funny or that just show what it was like raising him.

Raising kids is tricky when they have superpowers.

The feathered serpent Teo is a god from a classical era Mesoamerican style civilization strongly inspired by the mayans. He is their god of the earth and skies, and is quite used to and happy with a traditional view of how gods and mortals are supposed to interact: Gods are above mortals, mortals are meant to worship them, and in exchange the gods answer prayers, give blessings, and create miracles.

He is often at odds in this with Mirage, and believes it is unhealthy for her to get so personally close to mortals. This frequently gets on Mirage's nerves.

Who is the most inspirational mortal you've met personally? What feats or parts of their character inspired you and in what way?

Well, I’ve had to do a lot of growing in recent years.

Let’s start with Solomon Cohen, who I usually refer to Sir Hivemind, the leader of the Beacon of Hope and the Champions. He has access to incredible power and resources, yet is probably the epitome of “selfless.” He does everything he can in order to better the lives of others as best he can. From what I’ve learned, it is an incredibly tough job, but one he does well. I do hope he eventually gains time to truly rest.

Then there’s Lady Eira Steele, one of the Champions. I do my best to live eye-to-eye with mortals, but she showed me that I had a lot of humbling to go through still. Her mastery over her element and her strength are incredible, and like Sir Hivemind, she is incredibly compassionate, especially to the downtrodden. Our first meeting was rough, I can’t lie, but I think I’ve grown since then, and now I trust her to look after my son, Ollie. I still have a lot to learn from her, but I have faith in Eira.

In another world specifically in Richardson Valley, there’s the mouse, Flash, and his friend, the bear, Deus. Hoo, boy, that initial meeting was….just not good, but it became more amicable near the end. Both are trying to make the best of and improve on their lot in life. Something many aspire to do, and something even I have done in mortal lifetimes. Our initial rough meeting was due to I guess “philosophical differences,” but hopefully things continue to improve.

In the nearby Babylon Gardens, there are plenty more mortals that I’ve learned to bond with, and that initial meeting was also pretty rough, but most of us have mended that.

Peanut is a well of optimism, even when things look dire.

Grape is loyal, and will definitely let you know when you’re out of line.

King and I don’t get along, but I learned that he has reason to be wary of Celestials, and he is a dedicated husband and father, wanting what’s best for them. At least his wife, Bailey, and I get along.

Fox is learning to reel things in recently, but you’ll have a hard time finding a more loyal friend.

I like Fido. There’s apparently an old stigma of him and Sabrina being together, yet they eventually gained the strength to show their love to the world. Almost reminds me of Macabre and I.

Ultimately, this is really only a selective list, but I hope it gets the point across. We’re all partially molded by the company we keep and the relationships we forge. Sometimes they spring up from surprising places, but that’s what makes life so exciting, isn’t it!

This was a time when I just barely stopped the Assassin that is Harriet’s curse from completing a mission. Right at the foot of someone’s bed, so I had to be really quick about dealing with her. Thankfully, her target was fine, and he ended up attributing what he saw to a really weird sleep paralysis event.

Afterwards, Harriet pointed us to the summoner, but thankfully they didn’t try that spell again, and we even sabotaged a different scheme of theirs to intended to kill the target to get them caught.

These days, with the help of the leader of the Beacon of Hope, we were able to establish rapid response measures to make kill contracts significantly harder to accomplish. All of us are grateful for this.

So I’ve heard a bit of this one Celestial named Ceres. Apparently her domain was of the Harvest, but she had a poor reputation. What little I’ve gathered implies that she definitely didn’t care about mortals, fiercely protecting her plants and crops even during times of famine. She wanted them to flourish and viewed mortals taking them as ruining that. Some attitude to have about what is literally food. Even heard that she barely batted an eye to mortals that sought to worship her.

Thing is, she hasn’t been seen in a very long time, and I can’t find information on what happened. Even Lady Cerberus hasn’t told me anything. Oh, well, probably wouldn’t want to be around such a greedy, spiteful person.

Speaking of harvests, apparently Celeste was able to grow some tomatoes and she’s giving them out right now! In the short time I’ve known her, she’s been the generous type. Maybe this Ceres could learn a thing or two from Celeste.

So, some new neighbors moved into Babylon Gardens a little while back, and we’ve met up with their pets, a rabbit named Celeste and mouse named Trey. Turned out that Celeste had a skunk boyfriend by the name of Myron. Apparently Celeste and Trey were ferals that ended up being adopted, which is different, but not unheard of, and Myron used to be a pet to a magician before going out on his own. Quite the unusual couple, but Macabre and I can relate.

Turns out Celeste has a green thumb, working a family garden in her spare time, and apparently was considering a community one later on. The stuff she helps grow is great, and trust me, you’ll love the pumpkin pie her family makes!

Hello, Mirage. This is Hivemind. I've been asked before if there are any on the Beacon who worship me or consider me some kind of god. Even when I actively refute that claim, and specifically ask for them to stop, I do occasionally find a few people across the galaxy who have formed religious cults with either myself or the Beacon as the core of their beliefs.

I was wondering, considering you're an actual goddess, have you ever had any mortal worshipers?

Hello again, Lady Mirage. It's me, Pepper! I heard from the lovely Lady Aria and Sir Caleb that there is a particular Celestial turkey by the name of Lulay who tends to give good people such as yourself and Aria a hard time. You know, I do know some special basting and spatchcocking techniques. Perhaps I could teach you some of them?

Think I’ll take you up on those lessons, Pepper. The basting part will be important, I think that Lulay can deal with smelling of garlic for a while. Won’t need spatchcocking for her, I want her to be able to focus on the humiliation, not pain.

Really says a lot of her. Caleb is very meek and kind of shy, but he absolutely loves his demon girlfriend, Aria, and takes his position of Guardian-in-training seriously. You might get away with downtalking the latter to his face, but you definitely aren’t doing the same with the former.

…well, great, I’m going to have to talk about Lulay soon, aren’t I?
