Max couldn't sleep, it wasn't a new thing, she couldn't sleep for an entire month, you were worried, you knew something was off, you knew Max wasn't ok, but she didn't want your help, she was distant and after trying to help her you decided that you couldn't if she didn't want to.

You and Max were good friends, you met when she arrived in Hawkins almost two years before, you became inseparable, you both had a crush on each other, but it was hard to admit.

You danced together at the snowball and spent all the summer together, you were there after her brother's death, but after a month she became cold with you, distant.

You hadn't talked in a while, until one night.

You were in your bedroom, laying on your stomach, thinking about everything and nothing, you couldn't sleep.

You heard a soft knock on the window, you saw a small figure outside of it, you freezed, but then you recognised her, it was Max.

You got up and opened your window, letting her inside.

<<What are you doing here Max? It's almost midnight and- >> You stopped, when you noticed she was crying.

<<Max... hey don't cry, it's ok>> You hugged her, you missed that feeling, her body wrapped onto yours, and she missed it too.

You held her for a minute, that felt like hours, when she stopped crying she pulled away, you put your fingers on her face, wiping her tears.

You smiled softly, and she smiled back, you both missed each other, it was obvious.

<<Y/n, I need you>> She whispered.

<<You want to spend the night?>> You asked.

<<Yes please>> She smiled.

You two lay on your bed, she hugged you tightly.

<<Something happened?>> You asked.

<<Yes, since... since he died, everything sucks, Neil looks crazy, my mom drinks and I- I don't want to stay there anymore.>> She said, you felt you chest hurt, seeing Max like this was terrible.

<<I am so sorry Max, but you can stay here for as long as you want>> You smiled, caressing her red hair.

<<No y/n, you don't have to feel forced>>

<<I don't, I want to help you, and I wanted to help you even before, but you didn't let me>> You sighed.

<<I am sorry, but you have to understand that I was upset and I didn't want to hurt you >> She said looking at you.

<<I know, don't worry, but I won't leave you, if you let me help you, because I love you Max>> You confessed, blushing.

<<I love you too>> She smiled, blushing as well.

She put a hand on your cheek, she was close, so close that you could feel her breath on your lips.

You leaned in kissing her, it was soft and short, but it felt so good, her lips were salty, from her tears.

<<I won't leave you ok?>> You smiled.

She gave you a soft peck.

After a while you finally fell asleep in each other harms.

You sighed, watching outside your window, it was a boring day, it was snowing outside and all of your friends were playing in the snow, everyone except for you.

You had flue so your mom said you had to stay home, meanwhile your twin brother Mike was playing in your garden.

But you weren't looking at your brother, you were looking at Andrew, a guy from your science classe, he was Mike's friend, but you and him never really talked.

You had a massive crush on Andrew, none knew , you were ashamed, because if someone found out you were gay, it would've been terrible.

You heard a soft knock on the door, and someone open it, you turned around to see your big sister, Nancy, on the door with a mug in her hand.

<<I made you hot chocolate, since you are sick>> She smiled placing it on your desk.

<<Thanks Nancy>> You smiled.

<<Nothing>> She sat on the bed next to you.

<<Do you feel better?>> She asked after some seconds.

<<Yeah, I feel good>> You forced a smile.

<<I feel like something is wrong with you y/n, and I am not talking about the flue, you're quite and you look always sad>> She said looking at you, but you avoided the eye contact.

<<There's something... I don't know how to tell you, I mean it's a secret but I need to tell someone>> You explained.

<<Well, I am here y/n, talk to me, I'll always love you, no matter what >> She smiled.

<<Well... I like someone, but I don't know what to do, I mean it feels so wrong>> You said.

<<Well if you like someone you should go and tell her, maybe she likes you back, who's she by the way?>> You sighed, not knowing if you should tell her or not.

<<That's the problem Nancy, its not a "She" it's a "he">> You felt hot tears run on your cheeks.

<<Oh, so it's a boy?>> You nodded, you wanted to disappear, sure that Nancy hated you now, you felt naked, exposed.

<<Andrew>> You sighed.

<<Mike's friend?>> You nodded again, wiping of some tears with your sleeve.

<<Y/n, it's fine, don't cry>> She smiled rubbing your back.

<<Its fine?>> You asked looking at her, confused.

<<Yeah, I mean, its not easy, but it's not wrong, and you shouldn't be ashamed of it, if you like boys or girls or whatever you like it's fine, because you are you and you're following your heart.>> She smiled.

<<So you don't hate me now?>>

<<Why should I? You're still my little brother, and don't tell Mike and Holly, but you're my favourite. >> She chuckled, making you smile.

<<And plus I think that Andrew likes you back, every time he comes here and you aren't home he's always like: "where's y/n?>> She added.

<<Really?!>>

<<Yep, you should totally talk to him>> You smiled at her, but after a few seconds you started coughing hard.

<<Ok well maybe tomorrow, you can't go out like that>> You both laughed.
