Can someone just idk show Dean all the moments he and Cas has shared but from like Sams perspective so Dean can see how Cas obviously is in love with him and he realises he feels the same way?!?!? Idk if Jack could have that power but..Jack babe? Show him.
Imagine there being an awkward moment where another angel says to dean
“You know castiel can see inside your head right? You know he knows you feel the same way.” Dean clenches his jaw and doesn’t say anything else until the angel leaves
Later cas shows up to pay dean a visit like he often does.
He says “hello dean” completely oblivious. And dean just stares at him.
“Dean?” Cas asks tilting his head.
He takes a step forward
“You look pale, are you sick?”
Dean inhales deeply and closes his eyes.
“Damnit cas.”
And he just grabs him roughly and kisses him. And then pushes him away and just stares into space
“Dean I don’t understand.”
“Fuck cas it’s nothing. Just don’t tell Sam okay? Or I’ll kick your ass. I need a beer.” Then he walks out leaving cas alone in his room.

He just lied by omission. He never I think in the show has said hey I’m Lucifer I want to use your vessel then ditch you like last years prom date, he says I’m an angel and I need you please let me in and they do.
They think they’re doing a good thing cos they hear the word Angel and assume. Oops.

Well, the writers wanted Dean to shag Cassie in that episode, so they made Sam expositionally “know”.
They set up Cassie, Lisa and Jo as being the three things that make up the perfect partner for Dean:
Cassie: passion enough that it frustrates the hell out of him and makes him bicker / argue until they fall into bed
Jo: a hunter, capable of looking after themselves, strong willed
Lisa: caring, tender, realistic but always loving of Dean and soft
*I WONDER WHO FITS ALL THIS CRITERIA IN ONE PERSON*
Now the writers want Dean to come out and reveal his deep emotions for Cas but they want to drag it out. So we get more subtle references that are basically still exactly the same, as you say, just more subtle and spread out…
