so that is how i started claiming my life back.
I went all cold turkey and deleted my social media apps from my phone after seeing my screen time. But honestly, screen time was not the biggest reason for this decision of mine. My biggest, saddest reason was that I noticed that I barely had the attention span to read 10 pages from a book. And reading, something that was once my most beloved hobby, has turned into a struggle.
I felt like something was utterly wrong, and I NEED TO FUCKIN CHANGE.
So here i am right now, going by that very principle: If I feel like scrolling, I reach for a poem.
Why a poem, you may ask. Because poems are short and succinct, they don't really require a lot of reading time, and they satisfy your need for something short and stimulating.
And to my surprise, it actually works, it satisfies my need for short-length content, and with that, i am also taking small steps to repair my broken attention span.
And also, poetry... let's be honest, is not living in its heyday. We should really make the effort to rediscover it and support new aspiring poets and/or bring light to the classics again because they might be more relevant today than we think.
So yeah. I invite all of you guys to join me in this. I encourage all of you; If you guys feel like scrolling, reach for a poem!
