Lakeith casually walked around the park with both hands stuffed in the pockets of his jeans. The park was full of childish laughter, dogs barking, and soft music. He watched loving parents chase their joyful children around picnic tables while others spent quality time with their pets. He witnessed some couples walking hand in hand and he also noticed the people who decided to enjoy the fresh air alone. The majority of them had their noses completely submerged in some type of book. After 45 minutes of site seeing, he felt his feet grow weary so he decided to give them a much-needed rest. Luckily, he stumbled across a vacant tree. He sighed loudly as he relaxed his back on the bark of the tree. He enjoyed the shade that the tree provided. It was the simple things that he appreciated the most. The sounds of birds humming sweet melodies, subtle breezes, sunshine, and moonlight. There was beauty in everything and all beauty should be relished deeply. He let his fingertips graze the grass as he looked up at the floating clouds. He smiled faintly before small tears formed in his eyes. Again, he inhaled deeply but this time slower. He tore his eyes away from the sky as he pulled his phone out of his left-hand pocket. He unlocked his phone with a swipe of his finger and opened his favorite music app. Before he could start playing his music, he saw a woman a couple of feet from him sitting at a picnic table. He watched the woman throw her journal down on the ground in complete frustration. He paused completely allured by her natural elegance. He felt his chest tightening ever so slowly.

“Shit,” he muttered to himself.

With one glance, he forgot to breathe. She literally took his breath away. He placed one hand on his chest and inhaled subtly. He was in awe - a state of shock that someone could be so naturally enticing. Without her even knowing, she had woven the perfect web for him to easily fall in love. Her skin was the color of the richest cocoa - fully chocolate. Her tightly coiled hair was lively, boisterous even. Her mocha hued eyes were soft, welcoming. Her body was uniquely shaped - curvy and unapologetically tempting. Her eyebrows furrowed as she placed her fingertips on her temples gently massaging them in small circles.

Lakeith quickly stood to his feet, grabbed her journal, and approached her smiling widely. Being careful not to startle her, he cleared his throat loudly to make his presence known.

“Excuse me? I think you purposely dropped this?” he said calmly.

The woman looked up at him in embarrassment. Her eyes grew wide while an anxious smile crept across her lips.

“Oh shit! Did I hit you? Fuck, I’m sorry.” she answered sincerely while retrieving the journal from Lakeith.

“Nah nah, I just saw you and wanted to bring you back your journal. Um, I’m Lakeith by the way,” he said nervously while sliding his hands back in his pockets.

“Ari,” she responded sweetly. “And thank you by the way,” she added while tucking a curl behind her ear.

“It’s no problem …. If you don’t mind me asking, what has you so frustrated?” he asked hesitantly.

“I’m an artist who, at the moment, cannot create art,” she admitted.

“Ahh, I get it. You’re blocked. That’s the worst feeling. I still have a poem from five years ago I never finished.” he replied while looking at the grass beneath his feet and then back into her eyes.

“A poet?” she questioned while smiling widely. “That’s dope. Do you still remember the poem?” she continued.

“Ha, I have that shit memorized actually,” he admitted.

“Sit. Share it with me? Please?” she begged.

Lakeith laughed and sat across from her. He interlocked his fingers on the table and nodded in agreement before reciting his unfinished poem.

“How deep is my love?

What do you want me to say?

Something corny like it’s deeper than the depth of the ocean sea?

Nah, it’s deeper than that.

It’s deeper than philosophy, deeper than religion

And deeper than astrology.

To be loved by me is to be cradled in unconditional warmth

Constantly having your mind stroked in the most tender way

How deep is my love?

It is breath. It is healing. It is birth.”

“Yea, it went a little something like that,” he said shyly.

“That was beautiful,” she said while absentmindedly grabbing his hand softly. “So beautiful,” she repeated.

“I think you’re beautiful. And I apologize in advance for being so forward,” he said.

Ari felt her cheeks becoming flushed. She giggled and looked around the park before making eye contact with Lakeith again.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

“I would love to create something with you sometime,” he suggested.

“I would love that too actually,” she answered sweetly.
