Hello, I wanted to ask you a question, which RO/s is/are a slow-burn?

Hi Anon!

The game takes place over the course of a summer, more-or-less, so there isn't time to develop a slow-burn in-game. For more information on relationship trajectories and progression speed, see the spoilers below:

  • An in-game relationship with A'Li might develop the slowest—unpleasant past experiences have given him reservations about any romantic relationship. The healthiest in-game relationship with him can be interpreted as non-romantic—A'Li is the reason I would call my characters "Relationship Options" rather than "Romance Options."
  • The relationship with Victoria takes place over the longest chronological timescale. It was probably a slow-burn at first, before the events of canon. In canon, her affection is established by the time the game starts, but how she expresses affection might not seem romantic or even friendly at first. Or by the end, for that matter. She's very inhuman.
  • A relationship with Xingtu might seem fast—that's because there's something that they want from the player character. Seduction is one tactic they use to get what they want. For the player, not the player character, a relationship with Xingtu might be the slowest—you will have to play the game multiple times if you want to figure out what they want and what they want from you.
