Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
We visited on the first day of our trip as a way to have a valuable experience regardless of our jet-lagged status. (It's hard to hike when you have a time hangover). The vast majority of the museum is outside, so you can allay some of your germ concerns.
Strangely, there is a stingray touch tank that is a marquee experience of the park. I say strangely because you don't think of stingrays when you are in the middle of the desert, but the desert is the outside edge of the watershed for the gulf of California. As a result, there is a wonderful stingray touch tank and feeding experience.
In addition, you have several areas to walk through, highlighting the various ecological niches of the Sonoran desert.
Including a desert walk and an aviary with this oddly thick bird.
All in all, this was a great way to spend half a day in the Tuscon area.

Alluvium (noun) – loose silt or sand deposited by running water in a stream bed
Due to Mount Rainier’s glaciers, rivers in the park tend to have rocky riverbeds, but you may also see alluvium. Alluvium is a general term for deposits of silt, sand, clay or other material in running water, like these ripples of sediment pictured here under the exceptionally clear waters of the Ohanapecosh River. Alluvium is more likely to be deposited after flood events when rivers can carry larger loads of sediment. In addition to creating interesting patterns, alluvium helps build up mineral-rich soil along rivers.

Peak Design Tech Pouch
One of my biggest pet peeves of traveling is the night I get home, and I have to plug in my phone and watch on my nightstand. The cables are in my suitcase somewhere, and now I have to go hunting for them, and I just want to get to sleep, That is, until a few months ago. I finally had enough and purchased all the cables, chargers, and accessories I would need to travel. No more worrying about packing what I need or cannibalizing my nightstand before the trip. It has had an outsized impact on my travel experience, and I regret not doing it sooner.
Saguaro National Park
We spent the first weekend in November of 2022 visiting our 10th national park and the city of Tucson, AZ.
The week before/around this trip, Twitter was in a meltdown because of Elon Musk's antics, so I figured I should play around with Tumblr to see if it would be a good community to move to. I have also been thinking for a while about publicly documenting my family's adventures, and this might be a good place to do that.
