A briefing on Foreign Object Debris
FOD at airports can cause harm not just to aircraft but also to the people present at the aircraft and airport. FOD is any object that has a connection with the airplane and as a result, can impact the operation of the airplane and can turn into a fatal incident. A Foreign Object Debris Program is mandatory for detecting and eliminating FOD so that these fatal incidents can be controlled. This program for managing the airport FD should focus on four main areas which include training, maintenance, inspection, and coordination. All these areas must be addressed equally and regularly for minimizing FOD and its effects.
