For 20 years, Bruce Beck has served as the primary sports anchor for NBC 4 New York. One of the most well-known figures in New York sports journalism, he is the recipient of eight New York Sports Emmy Awards. The candidates for the 32nd annual Sports Emmy Awards have been revealed by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Savitch delivered the keynote speech during her Ithaca College graduation in 1979. Additionally, she won a seat on the college's board of trustees. She received an honorary degree from Ithaca College a year later.

Savitch was well known among Philadelphians. However, she had a bad reputation due to allegations of drug use and volatility. Resentment from her coworkers was evident during her meteoric rise to fame.

Savitch's delivery was uneven and unprofessional while she was on the air. Her voice was slurred, and she had trouble following her copy.

Savitch engaged a voice coach to help her deliver her lines more effectively. She also employed approaches like spontaneous narration of a graphic film and ad-libbed reporting.
