BIG 5 POST #1: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BIG 5

Finally, I am going to write about the third method I use in typing, the Big 5. It is similar to the MBTI in the way it works, but still is 24% more accurate than the MBTI, according to People Keys

I'm not sure exactly the reason for the 24% higher accuracy rating, except for the fact that Big 5 tests might do better at correctly categorizing results around 50/50 than the MBTI. That is my hunch.

I like the fact that Big 5 tests are easy to translate to the MBTI. They're a lot easier to translate than DISC, although my study and translation of DISC is certainly worth it, considering DISC is the most accurate and reliable typing method of any kind out there.

Here's how the Big 5 translates to the MBTI:

O= Openness to experience. A low score corresponds with S. A high score corresponds with N

C= Consciousness. A low score corresponds with P. A high score corresponds with J.

E= Extroversion. A low score corresponds with I. A high score corresponds with E.

A= Agreeableness. A low score corresponds with T. A high score corresponds with F

N=Neuroticism. This is not measured in the MBTI. But a low score is calm, and a high score is neurotic.

There's another Big 5 test out there called the Global 5, or SLOAN test. Its letter system is a little different, so I will explain it here:

R-S = I-E

C-L = Calm-Limbic (this is the N of OCEAN)

U-O = P-J

E-A = T-F

I-N = N-S

Lastly, I'll talk about 16Personalities.com. They're actually the easiest Big 5 to talk about , in regards to how it corresponds with the MBTI. Everything corresponds with the MBTI letters that are the exact same. And then, A-T (assertive-turbulent) is just their N from OCEAN.

I hope this is helpful, and happy typing! 😊
