I am not an idiot. They never explained how the rats were created in canon so easily it could be the case that Douglas didn’t use his own DNA to create the rats and used completely separate DNA to create each of them.
Maybe he was going to raise them together but not as siblings as an experiment or something.
We don’t know.
Plus it’s FANFICTION FOR A REASON.
