The thing about Mansfield Park is that we know that Fanny is this loving, intelligent, beautiful person and no one else seems to realize it. She keeps getting ignored, berated, and stomped on for no reason. And you are reading along and the one person who did appreciate Fanny's worth, Edmund, is getting more and more obsessed with Mary and forgetting Fanny...

And then Henry Crawford is all, "I'm going to make her fall in love with me!" And we HATE him because man Fanny has gone through enough! But then he falls in love with her and spends an entire chapter telling his sister, in minute detail, how AWESOME Fanny is, and we all are like YES! FINALLY SOMEONE HAS SEEN THE REAL FANNY AND LOVES HER FOR IT!!!

And then she says no, which is understandable and right, but then she goes to Portsmouth and everything is absolutely the worst and you really really want Henry to change and get her out of this situation and it seems like he will and then he doesn't and I'm just crushed.

And even though I know it's coming I just keep reading the book like some sort of crazy person.
