Everyone, meet my mom, Laurana! Yes, my mother is a snake, and my dad is also an elephant, big whoop.

Anyway, she’s a high-ranking Guardian Celestial, leading a whole squadron of others to defend places that might be vulnerable to demonic attacks. She’s turned down promotions to Archangel because she feels that being a Guardian lets her take a more proactive approach.

She takes her role incredibly seriously, which meant she spends a lot of time away, but she always made sure to make the most of our time together. I have a lot of fond memories from childhood, from her teaching me various things about the mortal worlds, to being my first trainer.

She had a tendency of being strict about training, but frankly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. But it was during one of these sessions that I first entered my Beast form. I was told I almost went on a rampage, but mom was able to keep me coiled until I calmed down. She was usually the one to restrain me after that, until Macabre taught me to control the change.

Speaking of, mom was one of the Celestials who was wary of Macabre after learning of him, him being a demon and all, but for some reason didn’t tell me about this. She was apparently convinced by dad to let things play out and to have faith that Macabre was being genuine. Of course, said wariness also rose up a bit when Macabre and I started dating, but still she held her tongue.

She’s since learned that Macabre really is someone worth trusting, and will defend him against any detractors now. She’d have a similar slow start with Vex and Aria.

Right now she’s training Caleb to join the Guardians as a Seeker. Some wondered why I haven’t followed in her footsteps (coil steps?) but she’s understanding that I’ll make my own choices over a domain, if any.

In the end, despite her serious demeanor and intimidating appearance, mom is a caring Celestial, always wanting what’s best, and will give her all to defend others if need be.

I do wish she’d loosen up a little, though.
