“I’m sorry…. I’m just…so….tired, can I rest h-” the human said and then collapsed right after…in the dragon’s lair right in front of the dragon.
Just after he collapsed, a hoarde of villagers with torches and pitch forks came running in yelling to get him. The dragon had not had someone barge into his lair before, let alone a mob. Clearly the warnings of dead animals throughtout his forrest was enough to keep unwanted guests away.
Although, now that the dragon has thought about it, it has been some time since he has seen a human let alone talked to them. They tend to be more afraid of the supernatural they once lived along next to and they also have a pesky problem with destroying the environment around them. It is for this reason that the magical world started keep to themselves, away from the prying eyes of humans. The dragon figured that it had been too long and now the humans don’t know how to read the signs of the land and know that they were intruding. The dragon stood and announced very forcefully, “Yfel am Kilgaron bearnteam of Kilgarah, wægn dierne hierdeherof forrest. Hwy’ and deow stranglic stellan tresspass inot min land mid weorpan?!?!” It seems like the mob of humans didn’t even notice Kilgaron when they burst into his lair, let alone how massive he was. The angry shouts for the first human’s head have fallen into an eerie silence. Kilgaron didn’t like intruders, but he especially didn’t like when the humans didn’t even answer him. The humans were terrified when they noticed but were frozen in place. One of them spoke in a weird tongue Kigaron had never heard before. In panic the human screamed “Run for your lives” and proceeded to attempt to run.
Obviously, Kilgaron wasn’t going to let the complete disrespect to continue. These humans needed a lesson as to who was in charge. Kilgaron leaped across the dark cave and set upon the man attempting to run. Kilgaron had bit the man in half and then turned to face the rest of the crowd and roared to show that they were not in charge. The rest of the crowd would have to try and rush past Kilgaron to leave the cave, and several tried before they to were killed or maimed. There were fifteen people still standing that decided to drop all of their stuff and hold up their hands. They were still speaking a tongue Kilgaron didn’t know, had it been that long that he has talked to a human that they changed their language? Kilgaron decided to cast a spell to be able to talk to the Humans. Kilgaron snarled “Again I say to you I am Kilgaron son of Kilgarah why do you tresspass into my lair?” One of the humans looked startled that Kigaron was speaking his language but answered, “Please we didn’t mean to tresspass we just needed to capture that fugitive” as he held out a shaky hand to the man who entered.
“What crime has he committed?”, Kilgaron asked. The man replied “He has come into our village and corrupted our children by teaching them to do as they pleased and to think for themselves. His ways just are not natural.” Kilgaron was extremly annoyed at this, but this closed minded mentality is what had him draw back from the humans to begin with. Kilgaron retorted, “That is not a crime, and certainly not one that gives you the right to chase him through my forrest for days! I have decided that your punishment shall be death and...” The man on the floor weakly called out, “please....don’t hurt....them...they are just ignorant..”. Kilgaron had not seen this level of compasion for other creatures, it reminded him of the stories his father would tell him about Arthur. Kilgaron responded, “I will let you live then, but this man is under my protection. I have been away from the human world for too long, and I will not let you enforce your will on others. I will be checking on your village to make sure that you treat all life with respect. I have decided to take back all these lands under my protection, leave before I change my mind.”
With that the 15 survivors scurried out of the cave as fast as they could not daring to look back. Kigaron laid back down on his treasure and said, “Rest now you are safe” to the man.
